THE BRONX 50

It’s been 4 years since I last ran The Bronx perimeter. Every time someone asked me in those 4 years which borough I would want to run again, I’d always say the Bronx without a second thought.

This run was about bringing people together with a shared understanding and love of city ultra running.

The run, a little over 50 miles total, was serene, with some miles bearing tons of conversation about running/life, and some miles where the only sound was our collective breaths and feet hitting the pavement.

There’s a simplicity in bringing people together over a shared task. It’s also important to note that most of us were strangers at the start. Across the run, we built bonds in different ways, to each other and to the borough. We all felt connected to the city and the beauty within.

What this reaffirmed for me was that experiences like this are closer than we think; all it takes is to have the right company along for the ride.
