What got you into running? And what keeps you doing it?
I started running whilst at school, and after winning various event at sports days  I realised I might be quite good at it, especially versus other sports  like football which I was hopeless at. I joined a club and started to train quite seriously when I went to university and got to national level. An injury a put a bit of a spanner in the works and I gave up the sport for 15yrs. Whist on gardening leave from work about 6 years ago I decided it was a good opportunity to do a marathon, and like many other runners, I just got the bug again. Although my best running days are behind me, I love the fact that you can still have your own goals, and after a hard day at the office there is nothing better to clear your head than a good 6-7 mile run.

What is your typical training routine?
It part depends on what races I've got coming up. If I'm embarking on a marathon I will do a lot of easy/steady runs including a long run on Sunday, a club interval session, and a tempo run up to 10miles. I've never done more than 70miles a week when training for a marathon, but I'm going to attempt / experiment to try and get up to 90miles a week for London next year and see what impact it has.

Do you run with a club or a group?
I run with London Heathside - a great club for all abilities. I would strongly recommend it to anyone. I typically join up with them on a Tuesday night for an interval session and then a long run on a Sunday morning.

Where's the strangest place you've run?
When at university we did a session in an under-ground car park as the weather was so bad.

What song, if any, is guaranteed to make you run faster?
'For What You Dream Of' by Bedrock

Do you run for the fun of it? Or for the results?

What is the best bit of advice you've had from another runner?
When it come to marathon running, you run for 20, race for 6.

What simple advice would you give to a new or novice runner?
Don't step up your training too quickly and incorporate some core work into your training

What is your favourite piece of SOAR kit?
Can I chose two please - I really l like the race shorts and the t-shirts.
