What got you into running? And what keeps you doing it?
My year 4 teacher got me into running after beating most of my classmates in a friendly Physical Education lesson. I have kept doing it due to its a great way for me to clear my mind of everyday stresses and work stress. I go into my own bubble when I run. It keeps me fit and healthy and also helps me keep on track with what I'm eating and how I am looking after my body.
What is your typical training routine?
I try and train 3-4 times a week. Different distances and different speeds. I usually include the odd hill routine in with a run, because I know how good hill work is for your muscles.
Do you run with a club or a group?
I run on my own. I tend to run on my own due to not liking running with other people as all they do is want to have a conversation. I would prefer not to.
Where's the strangest place you've run?
The strangest place I've run is through Tentsmuir Forest in Fife, Scotland! Creepy and very eery.
What song, if any, is guaranteed to make you run faster?
I have a few...the tempo of Emeli Sande's Hurt is brilliant especially for those runs where you feel so tired, and then Humans by Rag 'n' Bone. These two songs are on the top of my playlist to encourage me to make me run faster.
Do you run for the fun of it? Or for the results?
I run for both fun and the results. If one day i have a rubbish run...I will always run the next day to do better.
What is the best bit of advice you've had from another runner?
The best advice I've heard from another runner...well I heard from Paula Radcliffe was "Never set limits, go after your dreams, don't be afraid to push the boundaries" Thats what I go on, if I feel i'm about to hit the wall...I push on through it.
What simple advice would you give to a new or novice runner?
Don't start off to quickly...slow and steady wins the race...then slowly increase. Always make sure you have the right running gear, without you could develop serious injuries. Trust me i've been there done that!!
What is your favourite piece of SOAR kit?
My favourite piece of SOAR kit has got to be the winter jacket. Its ideal for those cold winter mornings.
