What got you into running? And what keeps you doing it?
Athletics has always been a part of my life from a young age, and I then transitioned into triathlon. However, running was always my strong point so I returned to solely running. I love running because you can slip on a pair of trainers and head out the door whenever you want to.
What is your typical training routine?
I train every day (and sometimes twice a day if I double) and my week consists of two sessions, a long run, and easy runs between these days. I also use spinning for cross-training.
Do you run with a club or a group?
I recently joined Highgate Harriers as I moved to the area. I'm really excited to get stuck in to their sessions!
Where's the strangest place you've run?
I've run along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon which was probably more spectacular than strange.
What song, if any, is guaranteed to make you run faster?
The Greatest - Sia
Do you run for the fun of it? Or for the results?
A bit of both. But I believe that you won't see any results if you don't enjoy it and aren't happy, so I ensure that enjoyment comes first, then results will be sure to follow!
What is the best bit of advice you've had from another runner?
Your path to success is not one straight line...there are highs and lows but if you trust the process then you will get there in the end. Another piece of advice I've been told is that consistency is key.
What simple advice would you give to a new or novice runner?
Run with people because it makes it social and easier to get out of the door. It also means that you hold each other accountable. Plus you can treat yourselves after.
What is your favourite piece of SOAR kit?
The Tilia long sleeve
