For me, the split race short is one of the iconic sportswear garments, and it was the first product that I wanted to develop when I launched SOAR Running. The first generation race shorts became one of our most popular products. So I was excited to be able to apply all the small design tweaks that I knew would make the Race Shorts 2.0 even better.
I kept the same lightweight 4 way stretch French technical fabric. It is just outstanding with really good comfort, strength and wear characteristics. The inside leg was adjusted - made a little shorter and the gusset was replaced by a single crotch seam that is displaced backwards. This means there is absolutely no seam bulk between the legs.
The waistband has been redesigned with a wider soft mesh elastic. Finally, I refined the fit of the liner to give a little more support - these shorts are for running fast, your legs should move freely, the other bits should stay nice and secure! There is sill the back pocket, that can fit a phone or a couple of gels. The vertical zip reduces bulk and excess material over the back of the bum.
The changes make the shorts even more comfortable to wear in all conditions: your shorts should set you free to run at your limit. And they now come in three colourways so you can mix and match to your heart's content.
The Race Shorts 2.0 are a product that I am really proud of. I wore the prototypes for nearly every run last Summer, and have now carried on with the production versions since they arrived in April.
The brief is, as always, ‘Beautiful Performance Running Wear’.
